Adeline was about to nibble on more biscuits when she heard footsteps approaching her.  "Boss, I've brought her to you. The payment?" Bob's voice was so loud that Adeline could still hear him clearly through the wall. The client must have answered him, but she must have spoken in a soft voice because Adeline didn't hear the reply. She couldn't make out what was said after that. Not a moment later, the door creaked open. Adeline moved farther away from the door and curled into a ball like an animal would do to protect themselves. "I bet you've never expected this day to come!" Yvette entered the room, and she spat out with a vicious gleam in her eyes. Somehow, Adeline wasn't surprised to see Yvette behind the plot.
