"That bloody son of a bitch has gotten me into a bigger mess now!" Veronica muttered, rushing back to the house. Initially, she'd planned to leave Jay to bleed out or push him off the roof to make it look accidental. But she'd taken him to the hospital instead, giving him more ammunition against her. "When he wakes up, he won't let this die down," she said, entering the house. Veronica leaned against the door, exhaled, and wiped her face. "Ah, Veronica, you idiot!" she cursed herself. She began searching the house for evidence Jay might have against her. Veronica scoured Jay's boxes and files, finding surprising documents. Evidence of Jay's fraud, embezzlement, and connections to drug dealers and murder. She continued searching for evidence against herself. "Why would Jay be so careless with his incriminating evidence but hide evidence against me?" As she searched, the doorbell rang. Veronica stopped, heart pounding. She quickly hid Jay's files and rushed to answer the doo
