Chapter 13: Xiao Yihan’s questioning

The following day… After she woke up, Jian Jianan sent Xiaobei to kindergarten. However, the last thing she expected to see so early in the morning was Xiao Yihan waiting at the kindergarten entrance! Jian Jianan pretended as if she did not notice him. She lowered her head and pecked Xiaobei on his soft cheeks. “Xiaobei, you should head in first. Remember to listen to your teacher. As she turned around to walk back to her car, there was a block in her path suddenly appeared. Seeing Xiao Yihan’s exhausted face working to keep in all his anger, made her feel great. “Ah, Yihan. Why are you here?” Jian Jianan pretended to look surprised as if she just noticed Xiao Yihan. “You… You didn’t see me?” Xiao Yihan could not find a way to release the anger he was suppressing. He had called Jianan and sent her messages on Wechat last night, but to no avail. He kept himself comforted by convincing himself that Jian Jianan she missed his messages. When he found out from Qi Xiaorou that Jian Jianan and Jian Huaibei spent the night at their grandfather’s, he figured that Jian Jianan would send Jian Huaibei to kindergarten today. Jian Jianan yawned, lazily. “Okay, you should go to work now and get busy. I want to go home and catch up on some sleep!” She hopped into her car right away, without giving Xiao Yihan a chance to speak. As Xiao Yihan gazed after Jian Jianan’s car, heading further and further away, his expression darkened. His fine face sported a grim look. Jian Jianan’s indifference to him was as clear as day. ‘What was happening?’ How could Jian Jianan suddenly change? It was as if she had become another person! Could something have happened to Jian Jianan while he was working out of town? Something he and Qi Xiaorou did not know about? But Jian Jianan attempted suicide right after he went outstation. She did not even leave her house! He had to investigate, and carefully so. The moment Qi Xiaorou told him Jian Jianan did not want to break off the engagement with the Gu family, he had been off-guard. With that, Jian Jianan woke up at 6:30 a.m. the next morning and dolled herself up meticulously before heading to Gu Mocheng’s house.
