Before they knew it, the first day of college arrived. After much coaxing from Kayla, she insisted that Myra and Dexter accompany her instead of having Eugene take her. "Mom, Dad, you promised me before that no matter how busy you are, you would always put your work aside to be with me. You've always done that since I was little. How can you go back on your word now?" Dexter and Myra exchanged glances, unsure of how to respond. They had initially planned to accompany Felicia since she had chosen to stay at the dormitory and had many things to settle, and they were genuinely concerned about leaving her alone. Kayla seemed to sense their hesitation. With her head down, she feigned disappointment and said, "It's okay. I can go by myself. You two should go with Felicia.
