CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-SEVEN FANCY EVENING
DAPHNE'S POV
Later that evening, we decided to try fishing at the nearby lake. Javion was so sure of himself, casting his line like he was some expert angler.
But after a couple of hours with nothing to show for it, he was starting to get frustrated.
"Maybe the fish just aren’t biting today," I said, trying to be supportive.
"Or maybe I’m just not as good at this as I thought," he admitted, looking a bit deflated.
I couldn’t resist teasing him. "Guess it’s a good thing you don’t have to rely on fishing to feed us, huh?"
He shot me a mock glare. "Watch it, or I’ll make you catch your own dinner."
I grinned. "I’d probably be better at it than you."
He laughed, shaking his head. "Alright, alright. Let’s call it a day before my ego takes any more hits."
As we walked back to the cabin, hand in hand, I couldn’t help but feel content. Sure, we weren’t exactly the perfect outdoorsy couple, but we had fun in our own way.
That trip was a disaster in some ways, but it was ours, and
