Regina knew exactly what kind of person Trina was. Worried that Charlotte might be at a disadvantage, she slipped her a gold card just before they left.
"That woman is Mr. Hoffman's aunt. She seems nice, but she really isn't. She's two-faced and sharp-tongued. She's also never liked him much.
"Mr. Hoffman left you this card. There's no spending limit. Buy whatever you like. The PIN is the last six digits of the card number."
Charlotte stared at the shimmering gold card, touched by Regina's thoughtfulness. Warmth bloomed in her chest. "Got it. Thank you, Regina."
"I should be the one thanking you for sticking up for me earlier, Mrs. Hoffman."
Trina was infamous for her temper and sense of entitlement. As Errol's youngest daughter, most people in Jedburgh either feared her or went out of their way to avoid crossing her. If it weren't for her husband, who worked in politics and kept her in line, she'd be even more of a troublemaker.
