"Morning, darling," Grandpa's voice sang through the phone.
I rolled my eyes, tsking as I held my phone to my ear, lying on my side on the bed.
"Morning, Grandpa," I said grumpily.
"How's your vacation going?"
"I'm miserable."
"I guess it's going well then."
I sat up, throwing my arm across my legs, which were covered with the blanket.
"I said I'm miserable, Grandpa. I have nothing worthwhile to do here. Please, just let me in on some details from work. Anything to help me not lose my mind."
"Spend quality time with Trevor, Celine. You'll feel better letting loose and having fun. You're too tight-wound, and unless you find balance in how you handle things, you'll keep dealing with miserable vacations."
My grip tightened on my phone at Grandpa's words. "You can't mean that."
A mental image of Grandpa smiling appeared in my head, accompanied by his typical response: "Have I ever said words I don't mean?"
