Chapter Thirty Nine: Faltering Heart

I woke up the next morning with a languid stretch, stifling a yawn.
"Oh, God!" I groaned, feeling my muscles twitch and flex with satisfaction as I stretched.
I sat up in bed, looking for my phone.
I found it on the ottoman and crawled across the bed to reach for it.
I lay on my belly as I grabbed it and checked the time.
I had slept later than I usually did back in Toronto.
My body had adjusted to the idea of a vacation in Italy.
I hoped to God that I wouldn't become lazy by the end of this trip.
I unlocked my phone and went through my messages.
There was nothing from work. I was really being kept out of the company's affairs for a whole week.
"A whole week!" I counted down on my fingers.
God! Would my sanity still remain intact?
I was to spend a week with my nemesis in a single-room suite, and I had nothing to focus on to shut him out.
