The old man was unyielding in his decision, despite Dad's persuasion.
"You will benefit more if you sell that land to us, Mr. Reid. We have a very good offer if you would just check it out." Dad set the file containing our proposition on the table, tilting it toward Mr. Reid.
Mr. Reid made no move to pick it up, his bulky face contorted in displeasure, and his frame filling the space in the armchair. He portrayed the picture of a greedy old bastard well.
"That land hasn't been yielding returns for years. Rather than letting it fallow with no profit, why not consider our proposition, Mr. Reid?" I asked.
Mr. Reid looked at me, his expression resolute. "My answer remains the same." His voice was thick, like there was a thick obstruction of phlegm in his windpipe.
He grunted at the back of his throat, confirming my suspicion.
"I heard you are in a state of financial crisis, and what we're offering is a one-in-a-million-dollar package. You should reconsider, Sir," I told him
