My chest felt tight as I stormed out of Trevor's apartment toward my car.
I scowled, tightening my mouth, and balling my hands into fists at my sides.
I wouldn't cry over him.
I should have seen this coming. He had been too understanding.
I had been too unavailable for him.
I pulled out the car keys from my bag and unlocked it.
The headlights flashed, and I yanked open the car door, getting in.
He was guilty.
That thought echoed in my head in a sing-song voice.
He would have chased after me, tried harder to prove his innocence if he had not been guilty.
He had lied then he had given up.
He hadn't bothered to prove me wrong.
"What was the point?" The evidence was glaring.
The late dinner, the woman's perfume on him, and the stain of his sleeve.
I had seen a touch of the lipstick on his mouth too. It was faint.
He had hastily wiped it off and hidden her somewhere in his room before he came out to get the door.
