CHAPTER NINETY THREE – SOME PEACE AND QUIET
That Friday evening, they set off for a small bed and breakfast in a nearby coastal town. As they drove along the winding roads, the tension between them slowly began to dissipate.
They arrived just as the sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the quaint Victorian house that served as their B&B. The owner, a cheerful elderly woman named Mrs. Benson, showed them to their room.
"Oh, this is lovely," Joan breathed, taking in the cozy space with its four-poster bed and view of the ocean.
Larry came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist. "I thought we could both use some peace and quiet."
They spent the evening strolling along the beach, the sound of crashing waves washing away their stress. As they walked, hand in hand, Joan felt the knot in her chest begin to loosen.
