CHAPTER SEVENTY FIVE – VITO’S CRIMES
Joan's phone buzzed incessantly, Vito's name flashing on the screen. After days of avoiding his calls, she finally answered.
"Joan, please," Vito's voice cracked. "We need to talk. Can we meet?"
She sighed, feeling the weight of the past few days pressing down on her. "Fine. Central Park, near the fountain. One hour."
As Joan approached the meeting spot, she was surprised to see not just Vito, but Alessandro as well. The brothers stood a few feet apart, tension evident in their postures.
Vito rushed towards her. "Joan, thank God you came. I'm so sorry. I can explain everything."
Joan held up a hand, stopping him. "Explain what, exactly?"
Vito's eyes darted nervously between Joan and Alessandro. "The girls... they meant nothing to me. I swear."
Joan froze, her eyes widening. She turned to Alessandro. "What? But you said..."
Alessandro looked equally shocked. "Vito, what are you talking about?"
Realizing his mistake, Vito's face paled. "I... I mean..."
