CHAPTER THIRTY NINE – THE AUDACITY OF A STRANGER
"Is there a problem here, Joan?" Mike asked, his tone serious.
"This gentleman was just leaving," Joan said firmly. "And he's no longer welcome in our establishment."
Mike nodded, understanding the severity of the situation. "Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to come with me. We don't tolerate that kind of behavior here."
As Mike escorted the protesting man out, Joan took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. She could feel the eyes of other customers on her, a mix of sympathy and curiosity in their gazes.
Carla appeared at her side, concern evident in her usually stoic expression. "You okay, boss?"
Joan nodded, though her hands were shaking slightly. "I'm fine. Just... give me a minute, okay?"
She retreated to the office, closing the door behind her. Leaning against it, Joan closed her eyes, willing her heart to stop racing. She felt violated, angry, and most frustratingly, she felt unprofessional for letting it affect her so much.
