Epilogue - Willow
Fifty-one. Fifty-Two. Fifty-Three.
I pushed through the aches in my limbs as my lungs screamed out in pain. My pride wouldn’t let me stop, not with Derrick on my tail and the need to beat him.
He howled behind me. It was full of tiredness and laughter. We’d been attempting to run the entire pack ground in under one minute for the last two months.
And I was almost there.
The tree line came into my line of sight and I felt my wolf fill with joy.
Fifty-six. Fifty-seven. Fifty-eight.
The sunlight hit my fur when we escaped the forest. My wolf fell to her side and gasped for breath.
Several of the warriors rushed over applauding and teasing Derrick for losing to me again, while I searched the clouds in the sky.
My wolf had never been happier over the last few months. Chase had tossed me into warrior training as soon as I healed. It was a hard journey coming back from the past. From the hiding, and the mental stress of not being allowed to freely be who I wanted.
