Chapter 57  Unforeseen Turns

When Eleanor wakes up, she gasps for air quickly out of fear. Her eyes are still stuck in her nightmare and are darting all over the room. Eleanor was screaming. "No!Let me go!" The sound of Lucas's voice cut through her fear; it was soft but strong. "Don't worry, Eleanor. Now you're safe. "You're with me now." Lucas wraps his arms around Eleanor, who is shaking, and her screams turn into sobs. He gently touches her hair and whispers reassurances to her. "You are no longer there. You are in my house, baby, with me." As Lucas's words sink in, Eleanor's sobs start to stop, and she slowly gains a better grasp on reality. She blinks away tears, and her breathing slowly gets better. "I... I thought..." He told her to be quiet. "Eleanor, you're with me. "You are safe." Eleanor gives Lucas a weak nod and leans into his hug. "Lucas, make me believe that I am with you, please, I want to get rid of this terror."  As Lucas whispered, "Look at me," Eleanor's tear-filled eyes met his gaze. W
