Chapter 19: Call Me Dad
After taking a look at Vernon, Winfred quickly returned to the car with Lainey in his arms.
“Wait for me.”
Elvira just hurt her foot when she fell. Seeing Lainey was taken away by Winfred, she called out hurriedly.
Vernon helped Elvira up, and then he directly picked her up and walked towards the car as he thought she was walking too slowly.
“Oh!”
As her body was suddenly risen into the air, Elvira was startled. She wrapped her arms around Vernon’s neck tightly subconsciously. As a result, her face instantly reddened when she met his eyes.
Behind them was Estelle’s cursing of Rooney.
“Rooney! Are you dead or what? How could you watch me being bullied without doing anything?”
“Alas, it’s just a couple of slaps in the face. It’s no big deal. Okay, okay, I’ll make it up to you when we go back, okay?”
“...” The quarrel continued.
After returning to the car, Winfred took them to the hospital because Elvira sprained her foot and Lainey’s face was also red and swollen.
Fortunately, Elvira’s hurt was not serious, and the pain was soon relieved after applying the ointment for bruises and sprains.
“I’m sorry to make you suffer with me, Elvira.”
Lainey was guilty.
Elvira didn’t take it seriously, so she shook her head and comforted, ‘‘Who am I to you? I’m your friend! What’s the point of talking about this? Besides, it’s not your fault.”
Originally, Elvira couldn’t figure out why Lainey would agree to marry such an ugly man as Winfred, but she could understand Lainey after meeting Rooney.
Compared to Rooney, a good man like Winfred who would protect his woman was worth marrying very much. He was many times better than Lainey’s father!
“Where are we going now? Should we take Mrs. Sloan back to school or back to the Heyday Mansion?”
Vernon asked as he drove in front.
Siting in the passenger seat, Winfred glanced back at the two girls behind and ordered, “Send Miss Torres back to school first!”
Originally, Winfred didn’t have any good impression of Elvira. But he thought she did take Lainey as her good friend as she could stand up for Lainey.
It was a good thing that Lainey had such friends.
“Thank you.”
Elvira subconsciously raised her head to look at Vernon in the rearview mirror, and the corners of her mouth rose slightly.
“I’m fine, really.”
Lainey was then carried back to the bedroom by Winfred. After finding out the ointment, he delicately applied it on her the beaten face.
“Your face is so unlucky. It had only been healed for a few days before it got hurt again.”
Winfred’s heart ached as he caressed Lainey’s red and swollen face. He even wanted to cut off Rooney’s hand.
“He’s my dad. After that slap, I did give up the relationship as father and daughter.”
Lainey reached out to smooth Winfred’s tightly frowning brows, smiling sweetly, “This’s good. I just need to care about my mother in the future. Anyway, the Warren family doesn’t welcome me back.”
Winfred pulled down Lainey’s hand to his mouth and kissed her palm, “Don’t you think it’s unfair?”
As far as Winfred knew, his father had invested 20 million in the Warren family’s company because Lainey agreed to marry him. But now the Warren family had nothing to do with Lainey. Didn’t she really think it was unfair?
“No!” Lainey smiled sweetly at Winfred, “If it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t have known you! Don’t you think so?”
Lainey was optimistic and cheerful. She could find points to comfort herself easily.
Looking at her simple and innocent appearance, Winfred suddenly smiled.
The next second, he lifted her chin and kissed her on the lips.
Lainey was stunned for a moment before she closed her eyes obediently.
This kiss was sweet, just like eating cotton candy, making Lainey want to relish it for a long time and not wanting it to end.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
A servant said outside the door, “Mr. Sloan, Mr. Vicente Sloan is here.”
After pausing for a while, Winfred could only let go of Lainey.
“Let’s go and see what the old fox is up to again.”
Lainey’s face was red, “How can you call him like that? He is your father!”
Vicente was very concerned about Winfred’s personal problems, otherwise he wouldn’t have found her back then.
Winfred chuckled, came closer to her lips and kissed again before taking her downstairs happily.
Holding a walking stick, Vicente was sitting on the sofa with a serious look on his face. No one knew what the purpose of his visit was.
“Dad.”
Winfred called lightly, taking Lainey to sit down on the opposite side, “What’s the matter?”
Having just been interrupted from making out with his wife, Winfred didn’t sound good.
Lainey secretly tugged at Winfred.
Seeing their interaction, Vicente laughed joyfully, “Bastard! What are you talking about? I’m your father! Is there anything wrong with me coming over to visit you guys when I’m bored at home?”
“...” Winfred didn’t reply for a while.
Then he snorted coldly and asked, “I don’t think it’s not that simple, right?”
Vicente hadn’t set foot in the Heyday Mansion for two years. Winfred didn’t believe that he came over today just to visit them.
“Mr. Sloan, is there something wrong with you?” Lainey asked tentatively.
Vicente frowned in displeasure.
“Why do you call me Mr. Sloan? You’re Winfred’s wife, so you have to follow Winfred and call me Dad!”
Lainey blushed in embarrassment.
“Come on, call Dad!”
Vicente urged Lainey to change the way she called him as if he didn’t notice her embarrassment.
Lainey turned to Winfred for help, only to see him nod. Therefore, she could only call out stiffly, “Dad.”
Only then did Vicente nod his head in satisfaction.
“Lainey suffered so much at the Sloan Mansion that day, and I couldn’t rest assured in my heart. Moreover, I was afraid that you would piss her off, so I came over to take a look.”
Vicente’s words were half-true, but somewhat sincere.
“I’m fine, don’t worry.”
Lainey hurriedly replied.
After staring at Lainey for a long time, Vicente asked with a frown, “What’s wrong with your face? Did Winfred hit you?”
Winfred’s face darkened. Was he the kind of wimp who would beat his wife?
“No, I fell by accident on my own. It has nothing to do with him!”
Fearing that Vicente would misunderstand Winfred, Lainey hurriedly explained.
Vicente then nodded in satisfaction.
He thought he had been worrying too much as he saw that Lainey and Winfred’s relationship looked good.
“Well... So... You two hurry up and give birth to a baby. I’m old, I want to play with my grandson.”
Winfred frowned. The old fox’s tail was finally exposed. The visit was an excuse. His purpose of coming here today was to urge them to have a baby.
Lainey was so embarrassed that she couldn’t even raise her head.
She hadn’t even graduated from college yet. How could she have a baby? Should she go to school with a big belly?
Luckily, Winfred helped her in time.
“Lainey isn’t even twenty yet, and she’s still studying. We don’t plan to have a child for the time being, so don’t think about it. If you want to play with a grandchild, go find your eldest grandson.”
Vicente was angry and fierce.
“Winfred, you’re not satisfied if you don’t piss me off, are you?”
How could Winfred ask him to play with Blair? Winfred must think he’d lived too long!
