Chapter 64: Friendship Across Generations
To avoid arousing suspicion, Amia nodded and was about to cut the lobster when Steve quickly took the knife and fork, stepping in to do it himself.
"You don't need to do anything. Let me handle it. Your only job is to eat," Steve said firmly.
"But Mr. President, this really isn’t necessary. Let me do it," Amia replied, feeling flustered.
"Enough. You’re my wife, so stop calling me Mr. President. People might think you’re not my wife. Let me do this," Steve interrupted her before she could say anything more, and Amia realized she had almost blown their cover. Fortunately, Grandpa Smith, possibly due to his age, seemed not to have heard her slip-up.
They continued eating, sipping on some wine. Since Steve had insisted she just eat and not worry about anything else, Amia didn’t hesitate. She was hungry, having not eaten much since the morning.
