Chapter 256
Since the airfield on the island was privately owned by the Moretti family and Elodie had declined Jay’s offer to use his jet, she had to book a flight that took her to a nearby large island and then board a ferry to Isola di Sirena.
Someone must have alerted Jay to her arrival, as a familiar-looking man stepped forward the moment she got off the ferry and set foot on a busy pier.
‘Miss Fontaine, it’s so good to see you again. I hope you’ve had a pleasant journey.’
‘Uneventful. Good to see you again too, Silvio.’ Elodie shook hands with Jay’s majordomo.
His courteous smile became more genuine, apparently pleased that she’d remembered his name.
He nodded at Cory and the other two men behind Elodie. ‘I’ve got a car waiting. This way, please.’
Silvio was in his mid-sixties but walked like a man half his age.
His strides were long and purposeful and he didn’t bother stepping around the fishermen hauling wicker baskets of the day’s catch.
He didn’t even need to say ‘Excuse me.’
