Oliver raised an eyebrow, then shot Gabriel a pointed look.
Gabriel just shrugged and thrust his hands into his lab coat pockets. ‘She’s a quick learner.’
Elodie’s gaze drifted to Oliver’s hands, noticing the slight burn marks on his palms.
She reached out tentatively, touching them gently.
‘Thank you,’ she whispered. ‘You saved my life.’
Oliver flinched at first, as if unused to such affection.
But then he relaxed, meeting her gaze with warmth in his eyes.
He shifted his feet awkwardly and said, ‘I’m just glad I got there in time.’
‘Did you see anyone else there at the warehouse?’ Elodie asked.
‘Not inside,’ Oliver shook his head. ‘But I know who you mean. Michael Coltrane and Vivienne.’
Elodie felt a surge of anger course through her veins at the mention of their names.
Those two had caused her so much pain and suffering – she wouldn’t rest until they paid for their crimes.
‘Where are they now?’ she demanded, narrowing her eyes.
