CHAPTER THREE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY NINE – GIOVANNI’S VOW
The next day, Jasmine decided to pay a visit to Giovanni's farm. As she drove through the countryside, she couldn't help but reflect on how much had changed since that first desperate visit.
Giovanni greeted her warmly, insisting she stay for lunch. As they sat on his porch, enjoying a spread of fresh bread, cheese, and wine, Jasmine filled him in on her new role.
"Ah, Jasmine," Giovanni said, his eyes twinkling. "I always knew you were destined for great things. Don Cesaro is wise to trust you with so much responsibility."
Jasmine blushed slightly at the praise. "I'm just trying to do right by the family. Speaking of which, how have things been here? Any more trouble from Moretti's men?"
Giovanni's face darkened slightly. "They've been sniffing around, yes. But they know better than to try anything overt now. Your family's protection means everything."
