CHAPTER THREE HUNDRED – THROUGH THE BUILDING
They drove in tense silence, both jumping at every set of headlights they passed. As the adrenaline wore off, Jasmine became aware of the multitude of scratches covering her arms and face, stinging in the cool night air.
After about an hour of driving, Silva's burner phone buzzed. He answered it, his expression growing grimmer as he listened.
"Understood," he said finally, ending the call.
"What is it?" Jasmine asked, dread pooling in her stomach.
Silva's knuckles whitened on the steering wheel. "That was my informant. Collins has put out a hit on you. Every lowlife and hired gun in the city will be looking for us now."
Jasmine felt the blood drain from her face. "What do we do?"
"I've got a contact in Philadelphia," Silva said. "Former cop, someone I trust. We'll head there, regroup, figure out our next move."
