The moment the elevator doors closed, I felt tears pricking my eyes.
I couldn't quite put my finger on the emotion. I had been telling myself not to love Leonard anymore. But seeing him so close to Amelia was painful.
The thought of them having a child together and living in the Harmon residence only made me feel suffocated.
Once I got back to my apartment, I buried myself under the blankets, refusing to think about anything. The company was still under renovation, so I took a day off to rest.
But the next morning, I was jolted awake by a call from Mr. Harmon Senior.
"Eva, where are you?"
"I'm at home," I replied, puzzled. Shouldn't he be relieved not to have me around anymore?

But Mr. Harmon Senior's voice was cold, laced with anger.
"You need to come to the Harmon residence. There's been a problem at the company."
