JEREMY'S POV:
As we prepared to leave the hospital, a mixture of emotions swirled within me.
Relief washed over me as I watched my mother walk out of those hospital doors, her strength slowly returning.
Yet, a sense of apprehension lingered as we faced the daunting journey back to our home in the woods, an eleven-hour drive stretching out before us.
I glanced over at Karen, trying to gauge her mood.
Her eyes betrayed a weariness that mirrored my own, but beneath the exhaustion, I detected a flicker of relief at my mother's improved condition.
Determined to lift her spirits, I searched for ways to brighten the long journey ahead.
"Are you alright?" I ventured out, reaching out to gently squeeze her hand. The question hung in the air, laden with unspoken concern and a desire to offer comfort.
