Chapter 10 Hmph, Ignore Him

Cecelia widened her eyes while her body began to feel extremely uneasy!!! ‘My first kiss! ‘H... he... he ‘He just took away my first kiss!!!’ Cecelia immediately sobered up and pushed William away forcefully. She had a strong urge to slap him. William did not allow her to do so as he grabbed her raised wrist. His brows were knitted together as he looked at her watery eyes. “Let go.” William did not let go. Cecelia’s eyes that were already red turned even redder, and she stomped hard on his foot. “Jerk, that was my first kiss. I’ve been saving it for 22 years. I was keeping it for my husband and yet you...” She gave William another kick, and William let go of her out of pain. Cecelia said her last words before leaving, “Don’t ever let me see you again!” William kept replaying the words she had said to him as he watched her run into the room... ‘First kiss? And she wanted to keep it for her husband. ‘Isn’t her husband, me?!’ Cecelia refused to speak to William for the next three days. She did not pay any attention to him when she ate. Additionally, she would enter the bedroom first and lock the door behind her. ‘Hmph... ‘I don’t care if he’s tall or if he feels uncomfortable sleeping on the sofa! ‘He deserves it!’ One day, William tried to pass an umbrella to Cecelia when he saw that she was going out. “The weather forecast said that it’ll rain.” Cecelia pretended not to hear him and headed for the door without sparing another glance. ‘Who wants his umbrella!’ Cecelia had just reached downstairs when she received a call from Grace. “What? Are you serious? You found a job for me?” For the past few days, Cecelia had not stopped searching for a job. Although she had the 200 thousand that Hawick paid her, William’s spending habits would use up all that money in no time. That was why she had not stopped looking for a job. Once Grace came to know of Cecelia’s situation, she helped Cecelia job hunt as well. Nevertheless, Cecelia was not expecting Grace to have such a large communication network to be able to find her a job so soon. ‘Which company doesn’t fear Fat Mason?’ Following the address that Grace gave her over the phone, Cecelia arrived at a company called 2S! Looking at the skyscraper in front of her, Cecelia understood why the company did not fear Fat Mason. Fat Mason’s company might not have been small. However, compared to this company called 2S, Fat Mason’s company paled in comparison. However, Cecelia did not understand something. ‘Why does this company’s name sound so weird?’ Nevertheless, Cecelia’s point of focus seemed to have deviated as her most important task was to attend the job interview! Cecelia stepped forward. She was elated but at the same time nervous. ‘This company seems big, I guess my salary will be quite high. But what if I fail the interview?’ With butterflies in her stomach, Cecelia approached the reception counter to enquire about the location of her interview before entering an elevator. She was not sure if her eyes were playing tricks on her, but as the elevator door was closing, Cecelia thought she saw William. “Impossible.” Cecelia quickly reached out her hand to prevent the elevator door from closing. When the door opened once again, she could not see a single soul, what more William. “Am I crazy? Why would I think that he’s here? He’s just a jerk who spends money while he lazes and eats away at his lifetime!” Cecelia used to fear William, but ever since that uninvited kiss, she no longer feared him. ‘There’s nothing to be afraid of!’ Cecelia’s interview could be considered successful. The person who interviewed her was a tall lady called Linda. Cecelia could tell that Linda was quite satisfied with her performance. However, on her way out, Cecelia did not understand why Linda asked such a question, “Miss Shayne, what is your relationship with our president?” Cecelia was taken aback. “President? What president?” ‘I don’t know any president, alright? ‘If I knew one, I wouldn’t have been jobless for so many days and be so frustrated?’ Linda smiled meaningfully. “Since you’re not comfortable talking about it, I shall not probe further, Miss Shayne. You’ll start work tomorrow at 9 AM.” With that being said, Linda left. On the other hand, Cecelia was left trying to wrap her head around things. ‘What did she mean by not comfortable speaking about it? I don’t know what to say!’ Initially, Cecelia’s mood had been gloomy for the past few days ever since William stole her first kiss. However, now that she had found a job, her mood was finally brighter. The first thing she did when she exited 2S was to call Grace. “Grace, I succeeded!!! Are you free now? Let me buy you a scrumptious meal.” Cecelia was smiling from ear to ear. Cecelia decided that she had to thank Grace properly. ‘Grace not only helped me to teach that jerk a lesson, she even helped me find such a great job. ‘I think Grace is my lucky star! ‘If not for Grace, I wouldn’t have found my current job that has a monthly salary of 10 thousand! ‘It’s 10 thousand!!! ‘When I was working at Fat Mason’s company, my monthly salary was only 3.6 thousand. We didn’t even get paid extra when we were forced to work overtime. Furthermore, I had to fork out money for my insurance and housing fund. After all that, I was only left with 2.8 thousand to spend. Even then, I had to give that jerk, Hawick, 1.6 thousand for his car loan each month.’ Therefore, 10 thousand a month was a huge amount for Cecelia. Before this, she dared not imagine that she would be paid that much someday. All of it was thanks to Grace, and Cecelia was eager to share her happiness with Grace. Unfortunately, Grace replied over the phone, “I’m at the airport. Girl, wait till I’m back and then we’ll have a good celebration. I can’t talk anymore as I need to board the plane soon. Bye!” When the busy tone was heard, Cecelia felt deflated. At such times, Cecelia had no other person to share her happiness with other than Grace. However, even now, Grace was not available... Her mood turned from that of a sunny day to a gloomy one. Furthermore, the sky suddenly began to pour as well. That was the thing with the city that was by the sea. One moment it could be sunny, the next moment, it could suddenly rain. Currently, it was a heavy downpour. One could expect Cecelia to immediately become drenched as she had not brought an umbrella with her when she came out. At that time, she was beginning to feel remorseful. Even if she had been angry, she should have taken the umbrella. Not taking it only brought trouble to herself. There was no use in feeling regretful now. Cecelia ran toward the bus stop under the heavy rain. The rain was so heavy that Cecelia had trouble seeing the road ahead and did not notice that in front of her, there was a car driving at regular speed heading in her direction. By the time she noticed it, it was too late. She widened her eyes with horror as the car was about to ram into her. ‘I’m dead, I’m dead, I’m dead...’ Those were the only two words left in Cecelia’s brain. Just as Cecelia thought that she was going to die, or at least be crippled by the accident, a strong force pushed her aside. Consequently, she fell further away from her initial spot and landed in a huge puddle of rainwater. Her knees ended up being scrapped as well. Cecelia could not be bothered about the pain in her knees as she watched the person that had pushed her get hit by the car. The person was thrown even further than her while she yelled, “NO!!!” Cecelia propped herself up and stumbled toward the person. What she saw next was the body of a lifeless man on the ground. Consequently, her body began to tremble in fear, and she dared not look at the injuries the person had suffered as she was at a loss of what to do. Cecelia cried out, “No, don’t. Please, I beg you, please be alright.”
