CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN – AN ASSIGNMENT
"Rebecca, I have a proposition for you," he began, his tone suddenly businesslike.
She raised an eyebrow. "A proposition?"
Luca nodded, leaning against his desk. "I need your help with something. It's a delicate matter, and I trust you completely."
"What kind of help?" Rebecca asked, curious despite herself.
He reached into his desk drawer and pulled out a small, ornate box. "I need you to deliver this to an associate of mine in Greece."
Rebecca's eyes widened. "Greece? Luca, I don't understand. Why me?"
He crossed the room, kneeling before her and taking her hands in his. "Because you're smart, resourceful, and I know I can count on you. Plus, your ability to blend in and think on your feet makes you perfect for this task."
She couldn't help but feel a swell of pride at his words. "What's in the box?"
Luca shook his head. "It's better if you don't know the details. All you need to do is deliver it to my associate, Milo Sokratis, in Athens. Can you do this for me, Rebecca?"
