Chapter 19
ARIA's perspective
“What was this?” I tore the note from the vase and the vase splattered on the table, I flinched and moved away from it.
I glanced at the note, who sent me this and why did they bring the vase into the room?
It was getting more creepy than I thought.
I walked to the wardrobe and changed from the nightwear to a floral dress. I crumpled the note in my hand and went out of the room.
Was this some sort of prank?
Diana was standing outside my door.
“Diana!” I exclaimed when I saw her, and she came to her and hugged me.
“How are you feeling Aria?” She asked, her eyes glinting with worry. “I was worried about you.”
“I’m fine but I saw this note in my room, did you...” I stared at her, she disengaged from the hug. I took a second look at Diana, could it be that she’s a werewolf as well?
“Did you drop them in my room?” I let out the question.
“I did because I hate to see you this way, you say the vase, it broke, didn’t it? That’s how Neon planned to break you when he’s done using you.”
“What do you mean Diana?” I didn’t want to believe what she was saying to me but the look in her eyes didn’t seem to me like she was making it up.
She was the only one that was good to me when I was brought here, she won’t want to hurt me won’t she?
“He told you he’s a werewolf isn’t he, do you know what he does as a werewolf.” She huffed. “...come and I will show you what he does if that’s the kind of person you want to spend the rest of your life with.” She placed her hand on my shoulders.
“I told you, Aria. I do not want you to end up the same way that I did. You are just like my sister.” She sniffed and blinked the tears away from her eyes.
“Your sister?”
“You remind me of her and I don’t want you to suffer the same fate.” She dabbed her eyes quickly and took my hand.
“Come with me.”
I trust Diana, she was doing all of this to protect me.
We walked out of the mansion, and we climbed stairs going downward.
We came to a basement, and we hid in a corner, there was a faint light in the basement. I caught a glimpse of someone, his back was against us, and from his broad shoulders, I could tell it was Neon.
“...please, have mercy.” I heard a weak voice plead. Neon paced in front of him, and I was able to see the people who were on their knees and were pleading with him.
I could tell them apart and there was someone who looked quite familiar to me. There were about five men whom Neon made to kneel in front of him.
They were...humans.
I watched how Neon treated them ruthlessly, hit them with the whip, the other man beside him was Silas, his face was plain as if he was known to do such a thing.
“You should have listened when there was a warning,” Silas grunted.
“I have no mercy to spare,” Neon replied.
Neon killed them, all five of them, my legs gave in and I was on the ground. He had shifted into his wolf form splashed his claws on their body and bit them.
How could Neon treat humans like this?
I couldn’t believe Neon could do this. How could he?
Where was the caring Neon that I know?
“Let’s get out of here.”
Diana took me out of the basement, I ran back to my room, into the restroom, and threw up.
The image of them lying dead and Neon’s body covered in blood replays in my head.
I tried to shake the thought off and went out to meet Diana. She was seated on the bed when I got there.
I pushed the door of the balcony open, I needed some air to breathe.
“You have seen for yourself, haven’t you? That’s how Neon treats humans, when he goes to the human world he hides his identity but he treats them no differently. He doesn’t see humans as you do, that’s why they do not belong in the pack. You saw how he killed them.” Diana said when she followed me to the balcony and held the railings.
“If the pack members find out you are here, they will attack you, they see humans as a curse, a weak pathetic creature. That’s the same thing Neon thinks when he killed those men.” She exhaled and glanced at me.
“Is that the kind of man you have to live with no matter what he shouldn’t have taken a life but he did, and he killed your kind. Don’t you want to be free?” She went on, I said nothing but stare at the dark sky, I couldn’t think of any possible reason why Neon would kill humans, what have they done for him to kill them that way?
They pleaded with him but the look in his eyes was clouded with hate.
“What should I do, Diana?” I tilted my head to the side and met her gaze.
“You have to be free from him, and to leave this place is to reject him as your mate.”
“You are a werewolf too, ain’t you?”
“That’s not important now, Aria, reject him.”
“Reject him, how?” I stared at her with a puzzled frown.
“That’s the only way you can be free from Neon, tell him you reject him, make sure to call his name, and that you reject him as your mate. Don’t tell Neon I told you any of these, else he will have me killed just the same way he killed those me .” She shuddered as if the thought terrifies her.
I turned and looked at the sky, all I had to do was reject him and I would be free from him.
Do I want to be free from Neon, he was such a suspicious man that I didn’t know what I should do.
Wasn’t he the Neon who watched me throughout the night, made sure I was fine, and treated me nicely, at daylight and overnight he was like a beast?
Diana was right, I don’t belong here, not in all this blood, and killings.
I’m a human, not a werewolf, I can’t stay with Neon when he doesn’t care about humans and treats them as nothing.
“Neon is coming, make sure to do as I have told you else you will be the one to regret it.” Diana sounded a bit stern and she covered it up with a worried smile.
“Aria, you got this okay?”
I nodded and Diana hurried out of the balcony.
Will I be able to leave Neon? Can I live with the werewolves without getting hurt?
