Chapter 12

NEON's perspective “Silas that way, Gemma! To the left!” I yelled in the woods when we caught some of the rogues. We ran after them, I ran faster when I let Jax out, and I knew if I had to catch those rogues I had to shift. My bones cracked as I ran, I grew bigger, my ears became longer, my claws came out, and my fangs. The clothes tore off my body, and Jax surged forward, running after the rogue. One of them was running in the direction of my house. I hastened up. I had to get him before he got closer to where the mansion was. It never occurred to me why he was running to the mansion, leaving the other rogues behind. ‘Faster Jax.’ I growled. There haven’t been rogues in the pack for a long time. ‘Alpha, we couldn’t find him.’ My Gemma said through the mind link. I snarled. ‘Find the mole, search everywhere, search every house in the pack if you have to. Find him.’ ‘Yes, Alpha.’ I closed the mind link and focused on the running rogue. The pack can’t be in danger not now that mate was here, I have to stop it before anything worse happens. I jumped on him when I caught him. We both rolled off the hills to a low land, I flipped him over and I was on top of him and splashed his chest with my claw, bit him, and hit him over the tree. I transformed into my human form but my claws and fangs were still out. Another rogue lunged at me from behind, my move was swift as I picked him up dug my claws into his chest, and snapped his neck. I hurled him aside, panting for breath. I snarled when I noticed that I was being watched as I killed the rogue, the sneaky rogue that had come into my territory. If whoever was watching me was one of them, I had to make sure it was dead too. I won’t spare any rogues! I turned, and there was no one but I could feel the eyes watching me. Slowly I raised my head and met with the eyes of Aria who was standing at the balcony of the house. I froze when our eyes met. She ran back into the house, slamming the door of the balcony. ‘Mate.’ I growled. She has seen something that she shouldn’t have, I did not plan to show her this beastly side of me as a wolf. I have to explain to her what she has seen but I do not know how to explain all of these to a human and make her understand that I was trying to protect the territory. We had spent the whole day tracking them down, and when we finally got them we couldn’t just let them escape. How could I explain it all to Aria, that there was a difference between her and me? “Alpha.” Silas pants when he gets close. “Give me your clothes,” I ordered. He pulled them off immediately and gave them to me. “Is something wrong?” “Aria. I think she saw something from there.” I gritted out, and put on his jacket. “Is all the rogues caught?” “Yes. Take the ones alive for questioning.” I shoved him aside. “Yes, Alpha.” I marched down to the house ignoring all the greetings I got from the workers. I need to see mate, that was all I could think of. She must have been traumatized if she had truly seen me killing a rogue. We were just starting to get close to each other, why now? I stopped at the door of her room and knocked on it. “Aria.” The tone of my voice sounded harsh, I took in a deep breath and managed to calm myself. “Aria, it’s me. Open the door.” “Go away!” She yelled from the inside. “Aria!” I did not know when I raised my voice at her. “Leave me alone!” She shouted. I hate it when the door is locked, It brings nothing but awful memories. I was breathing heavily and was trying to calm myself from the thought that she might be fine. “Aria,” I called calmly with my fist on the door. “Aria! Let me in so I can talk to you!” “There is nothing to talk about, I saw you. There was blood and you were...” Her voice was quavering. “You killed someone Neon!” She cried. She saw it. I hit my head slowly on the door, huffed, and pushed my hair backward with both hands aggressively. “Open the door else I’m going to break it.” I ground my teeth and started the slam my fist on the door. “So you can kill me too?” She asked with panic. “Aria. Fuck, no!” “I am not going to open the door.” She countered stubbornly. “Just go away!” I growled and moved back a little. It leaves me no choice but to break the door. Taking two steps back, I kicked the door. It burst open, splitting in two. Aria’s hand was over her mouth to stop herself from screaming too loud. “Do not come close to me!” She warned and tried to run towards the bathroom. I ran quickly and blocked her path. She ran towards the bed. “You can’t run from me, Aria. What you saw is the true me.” I tried to reach out to her and explain. “You are a monster.” Her eyes were swollen, it was the evidence that she had been crying. My heart sank at her words. ‘I am a monster.’ “Who are you? How could you kill someone like that!” She shrieked, her hair sprawled on her face. “You don’t address those rogues as if they are important, they deserved to be killed.” “Stay away from me.” She picked up a vase and threw it at me. It whacked against my arm, scattering before my feet. My face hardened. “I am a werewolf.” I came out truthfully and glanced at the cut on my arm. “What?” Her expression looked priceless, she could barely take it in. “What did you say?” “A werewolf.” I looked at the ceiling, I couldn’t face her. She saw the cut on my arm healed, and the wound sealed up. She gasped and took another step away from me. “That’s what I am, and this is the human part of me, there’s another part of me, the wolf part.” “You have a split personality?” I still didn’t meet her eyes. I shook my head. “No, not that way. Jax is real, his existence is real. If you are a werewolf you would have felt him. You can see him too if you want.” I took a step closer to her when I saw that she had calmed down a bit. “...and you are my mate,” I added. “What is mate? How am I your mate? Mate as in animal?” A puzzled frown plastered on her face. “You are the mate of a werewolf, my soulmate Aria. Every wolf has a soulmate when they are at a certain age. You are my mate.” “Do not come close to me, whatever this is, I don’t want to get involved in it or be your mate or soulmate whatever you called it.” “Aria.” “Don’t take another step closer,” She reaches out for the scissors on the table. “Drop them, please.” “Don’t come close to me.” She warned. ‘Something is wrong, how did mate end up at the balcony, and why was the rogue running towards the house? She was on the balcony at the perfect time to see us kill the rogues. It’s not a coincidence.’ Jax roared furiously. ‘Mate is scared of us because of the person’s plot.’ I clenched my jaw tightly. ‘Whoever has sent rogues to the pack, I will find him and kill him.’
