“What?” I was almost certain that I hadn’t heard him correctly. He couldn’t love me. “I love you Callie. I have for a while.” he repeated, taking my hand in his and caressing it. “I was actually going to ask you out on Black Friday but I chickened out.” I remained silent, unsure of how I should act. He must have seen the uncertainty on my face because he continued talking as if my silence didn’t matter. “Then this afternoon after practice I find Josh and Robert in the locker room waiting for me and they told me that you were going to get some Greek dude to come with you to homecoming because I was being such a wimp. Callie, I guess what I’m trying to say is would you go out with me and go to the dance with me?” Thud. I could almost hear my heart fall hollowly to the pit of my stomach. Once again I had a tough decision to make and no one could give me any advice on it.
