CHAPTER 17: BROKEN
DAMIAN
My brain felt like it was being stabbed a thousand times by the fluorescent lights above as I slowly opened my eyes. I felt pains in my body as I tried sitting up. The environment was familiar as I weakly looked around. I wouldn't say I liked the smell that I perceived. I wouldn't know I wanted drugs; I dared not look at the ones placed on a seat beside me. It gave me nausea.
Groggily, I lifted my head to try and remember how I'd ended up in this very sterile hospital room. The faint memory of the chopping of onions, which I was doing in my kitchen, hit me with overwhelming feelings of sadness and a fast, out-of-control spin of my world. I had fainted. It was then that I heard the soft voice of Dr. Oslin, bringing me back into reality. He had been behind me.
"Good morning, Marie." My heart skipped. Never did I think anyone was there
"You startled me!" I struggled to say.
"I am sorry!" He responded apologetically.
He came to my side and checked my body temperature.
