After a brief pause, Lily said, "Xavier helped find the lawyer." Maryanne was the first person she'd told about her marriage to Xavier. The night before they registered their marriage, Maryanne took her out for a drink. The latter ended up getting drunk, and sobbed while hugging her, making Lily promise to find happiness.
