A trace of vulnerability glimmered through his words.
Simultaneously, his words carried the despair that fraught him.
If these words had been uttered in the past when they had mattered, I would have been enthralled.
I shut my eyes, transfixed, as our surroundings seemingly froze. Dixon broke the silence when he let go of me and whispered, "What room are you staying in?"
I frowned. "It'd be more appropriate if you got a room for yourself."
My words fell upon deaf ears as he strode into the hotel. I waited for a considerable amount of time before strolling in and taking the elevator up to the 5th floor. I exited the elevator and entered my room.
I stopped dead in my tracks at that instant. "How did you find out my room number?"
I never told Summer where I was staying.
Dixon loosened his tie and responded coldly, "Sorry to disappoint you, but you're staying at a hotel under my company. And one more thing, Summer never contacted me."
