Henrietta arrived at Lauretta's mansion just as the sky turned a soft, dark blue. The late afternoon light cast long shadows across the manicured lawn, and the house's grandeur contrasted with the storm brewing in Henrietta's heart. The mansion was imposing, with tall columns and large windows, exuding an air of cold elegance. Henrietta stood at the front door, her hand trembling slightly as she gripped the ornate brass knocker. She wore a dark gray coat over a black dress, her face drawn and tired from days of grief and anger.
She took a deep breath and knocked firmly on the door. The sound echoed through the entryway, contrasting the serene surroundings. After a few moments, the door revealed a polite but distant-looking maid. "Good evening. Can I help you?"
Henrietta's eyes were red-rimmed, and her cheeks were pale, but her gaze was steely. "I'm here to see Lauretta. I don't have an appointment, but it's important."
