Chapter 603 You Wouldn’t Leave Me, Would You?
Lucas watched me, lips pressed together, our eyes holding until he finally looked away, his voice light as air. "Yeah, he's dead."
A pain I tried to hide gripped my heart. Nevertheless, it was always there, hard to ignore. I stood up, my voice empty. "I'm tired. I'm going to bed."
He seemed to understand the turmoil inside me and did not follow.
The days rolled on, and life with Lucas at Bamboo House was cozy and full of shared moments. He was my constant shadow, and I never held back when it came to making him feel on top of the world. I knew what he liked, so I went out of my way to sprinkle a little happiness into his days.
I would cook his favorite meals, dive into literary adventures with him, and unravel the tricky metaphors tucked inside world-famous stories, pouring out all my insights. He soaked it all up, hanging on every word. Even though he was a stranger to classrooms and textbooks, his bright mind and thirst for knowledge shone through.
