AUTHOR'S POV
That night, Miles paced the room angrily. Thea stood by the window, arms crossed, her expression cool but tense. He couldn't keep it in any longer.
“Thea, do you understand what you’ve done?” his voice was sharp and a bit more accusatory. “The Rogues took Irene, and you failed to report any suspicious activity. The elders are questioning me—me, their Alpha—because of you.”
Thea turned slowly to face him, her eyes narrowing.
“I didn’t know they’d take her. I thought they were just lurking. Why would I report something that didn’t seem like a direct threat?”
Miles slammed his hand on the table, making her flinch.
“Lurking isn’t a direct threat? You were supposed to be vigilant! I trusted you to oversee things, and now, she's gone, the elders are on my back, and everything is falling apart because of your carelessness.”
Thea took a breath, holding her ground despite the sharpness in Miles’ tone.
