"Let's get you something to eat," Sasha suggested, though her voice betrayed the anxiety that was beginning to creep into her.
Nikolai's behavior had become increasingly erratic, and it was clear that something was amiss. His mood swings were disconcerting, and Sasha found herself growing more apprehensive with each passing moment.
"Not necessary," Nikolai snarled, his gaze narrowing as he approached her. "I can hear your heart pounding with a delicious kind of fear."
"What’s happening to you?" Sasha's voice trembled, barely masking her fear.
"I'm starving," Nikolai moaned, pausing to run his fingers through his disheveled hair. "Thanks to you, I've been so preoccupied with thoughts of Ophelia that I've neglected to feed. Why should I wait to exact my punishment?"
"W-what?" Sasha stuttered, taking hurried steps backward. Her fear was palpable, and she had never felt more terrified than she did at that moment.
