Chapter 24 – Only One Way to Go

Cassidy got in her car and started to drive. She didn’t know where she was headed, she just let her instincts take over and was on autopilot. So many negative thoughts were entering her mind as she tried to focus on the road. That woman in Jacob’s office looked like the kind of woman Jacob would be interested in. Not her. Cassidy was as plain as they came, with her matte brown hair and dull eyes. There was no curve to her figure. She remembered when kids used to tease her and call her a stick figure. Cassidy knew that she was not the prettiest girl around, but for a moment, for that one moment, Jacob made her think that she was something. But now she realized it was all fake.
