He led me into a dark room, and I was too drunk to bother using my wolf's eye. I was too engrossed in not feeling anything and killing off the pain. I heard a click resound in the room, and I knew there was no going back.
My movements swayed as I tried to walk, but I was halted by shivers traveling down my spine at an unexpected touch. His hands claimed my waist, the tip of his nose trailing up and down my neck. Hot breaths fanned my neck, igniting goosebumps on my skin. I gasped, feeling shivers engulf my being.

I had no idea how long I had been sitting in the forest quietly, letting the tears roll down my cheeks. I sniffled, finally aware of how dark it was.
I had thought Sinclair would come back and meet me after his meeting with the beta, but I guess the meeting was longer than we both anticipated.
I needed to go home and probably find Brena and explain things to her. She oversaw the cleaners and reported any misbehavior to the Alpha, as she had been patient the whole time. I couldn't afford to get punished for slacking off on my duties.
I began my lonely journey back, making up my mind to head over to Sinclair's after meeting with Brena instead of going home.
The thought of going home sounded pointless, and I needed company tonight. What's the point of going home when the person who made it home is gone and now between the stars?
I weakly smiled to myself at the thought of having Sinclair bathe and massage my aching bones tonight. He had the power to drive away my pain and wash all the sorrows from my heart.
Finally arriving at the straight path that led home, my body froze and my heart pounded in my chest as I gazed upon the smoldering ruins that I once called my pack house.
The scene before me was devastating; everything had been reduced to ashes, and the air was heavy with the stench of burnt wood and fur.
A thick cloud of smoke hovered in the sky, and angry orange flames shone brightly. My legs picked up pace, and my eyes flashed yellow as my wolf, Hera, emerged to the surface.
"I smell danger, Blaire. Turn back! You need to turn back now, Blaire, if you really value our lives," Hera said in a rush.
I wanted to listen to her, but my legs were subconsciously moving in the direction of the fire. Something was obviously wrong; I could see that, and I immediately grew worried for Sinclair, Glen, Raven, and Vinnie. They were the most important people to me.
It had only been hours since I had been gone from burying my dear mother, and I came back hoping to seek the comforting presence of my friends only to find this life changing scene before me.
Glen, Raven, and Vinnie were my childhood friends. Vinnie had chosen the medical field since his family came from a long line of healers and pack doctors. His wolf, Gein, specialized in fast healing. Glen had discovered he was her mate the night they both turned eighteen, as both were two years older than me.
Raven, Glen, and I were assigned cleaning duties since we came from a family of omegas and were among the youngest.
I arrived in front of the pack gate, and a scream escaped from my throat at the gory, gut-twisting,heart-shattering sight that I beheld. My pack, my home, had been razed to the floor, with bodies scattered around. My breaths hitched, my lungs suddenly unable to take in air.
Tears streamed uncontrollably down my cheeks as I walked cautiously through the remains, calling out for any sign of life, but there was only an eerie silence that strangled me as minutes passed.
My emotions were suffocating me silently. I was a hyperventilating mess as I looked through the gates, staring at the angry flames and thick smoke.
The smell of roasted meat wafted through the air, and my stomach churned knowing what was responsible for this, my lunch threatening to fly out of my throat. I retched, suddenly feeling sick. I sighted an arm that had charred skin lying on the ground, and I turned aside, throwing up my stomach's contents.
People have been murdered and torn to pieces, and I turned my head to see someone's arm lying on the floor. For goodness sake, I wondered what must have happened between the time I left and now that resulted in this. Were the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma dead? What of the warriors?
I gagged, spilling out my guts. This was brutal. Whoever did this had the intention of leaving zero survivors. Were they rogues? No, Sinclair hasn't mentioned anything about rogues lately. Who the fuck did this? That person was the devil himself, a true beast.
I pressed a hand to my stomach, feeling all color drain from my face as I stared in the direction of the servant's quarters. Fire engulfed everything. The once-flowery surroundings were now a graveyard of burned flesh and flowers.
Speaking of warriors, what of Sinclair? He had to be alright, right?
The grief threatened to consume me at the thought of him, but I refused to let despair take over. I walked carefully over the bodies, and my body kindled with anger inside me, fueling my determination to find out if my boyfriend was alright.
I needed to know what had happened and who had dared to attack us. Our pack wasn't weak, but we weren't that weak either. For years, we were able to fight off rogue attacks, but this wasn't an ordinary rogue attack but a war. A war we didn't see coming, and my only luck was that my mother died at the right time, which served as a big means of distraction, taking me away from the pack.
Now call this a dark humor.
"Blaire, we have to leave. There's someone still here; we might end up like them if we don't leave soon; the bad guys are still in there killing people." Hera said worriedly, but I ignored her as my legs began moving closer to the gate.
I wasn't a coward.
My eyes searched frantically for him like my life depended on it, and maybe it did. The thought of him being hurt made me feel like my whole existence was going to end.
He had said something about the Beta needing him for something important. Was he okay? He had to be okay. The possibility of him being dead had my heart racing frantically. I could hear my heartbeat echoing in my body.
"Blaire, please, no one here is alive." Hera's voice was softer: "Let's go before we face the same fate."
I ignored her and began trying to move the gate, but the heat of the metal bars scalded my hands.
How could she say we go back when our friends are in there? Sinclair could need our help and be in danger; the thought of losing my soon-to-be mate had me shaking with fear.
Now that I was standing closer to the fire, I could feel the heat, and it was like standing close to a raging inferno. I couldn't breathe; the flames were too much, and so was the heat.
My search ended when I found a bloody body lying outside the gate farther to the left. With my werewolf vision, I was able to make out who it was and realized it was my boyfriend. I rushed to him, and my heart squeezed in pain at his bloody, mutilated face. His right eye was only a fraction away from getting completely gorged out. His bottom lip was split in half. He looked mauled.
I hovered a hand over his face, and the tears that had stopped began to flow freely once again. My shaking hands reached out to touch him.
"No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no." I screamed in horror.
What kind of animal could have done this? I could barely recognize the once-very good-looking man.
"He's still breathing, but not for long. He's already a goner." Hera revealed it, sadly.
I wanted to scream at her when a gurgling sound diverted my attention. Sinclair opened his left eye, blood spilling out of his mouth, as he raised his bloody hand, which appeared to be missing an index finger, to touch my face.
"R-r-r-un." He choked out.
Tears spilled from my eyes as I shook my head defiantly. How could he say I should run and leave him to die here? If I did that, I would never be able to forgive myself. After all, what was the point of living if he wasn't present in my life any longer?
"I'm not leaving you here; I'd go find-"
He gripped my hair as I turned to scurry off. I turned, unable to stomach seeing him in such a state. He usually gets into fights, but he's never looked this horrible before.
"T-t-they all d-d-ie-d. I-I'm not g-g-onna m-make it. G-g-go, Baby. I-I-" He coughed up a huge amount of blood, gurgling as he attempted to keep talking.
"Shh! Don't talk anymore. You're going to make it, Sinclair. I know it." I had lost pretty much everyone, and I didn't want to lose him too. I'd lose my sanity completely.
"Blaire..." Hera called out to me.
"I'm not leaving him. He could be our mate, the one we were destined to love and protect." I screamed at her.
She sighed before sitting in silence, watching me stare helplessly at the dying man that I truly loved.
He forced a weak smile onto his face as his bloody fingers trailed my face. His good eye was barely struggling to stay awake. His breathing was slowing down and becoming strained.
"I-I will always i-l-l-love y-ou." He muttered weakly.
His hands dropped as his breathing finally stopped, and I screamed over and over at his demise. He was gone. The man I loved was gone. My soon-to-be mate was gone barely a few hours before my birthday. My mom was gone, and my little family made out of friends was gone. I was completely alone in this world. I had no one. I was all alone. I had no one.
I held him in my arms as a heart-piercing scream tore through me, breaking into a pained cry as tears furiously fell from my eyes. I didn't want to leave him. I couldn't leave him. Cry after cry left my lungs, disregarding my hurting throat and dehydrated body.
"Someone is coming. Run, Blaire." Hera sounded alarmed.
I refused to leave my wailing position, and after trying a few more times to get me to move, Hera violently shoved me into the corners of my head and took over. We ran through the forest, bending and turning down corners; we didn't know where it led.
"How could you leave him there?" I growled at my wolf.
"I loved him as much as you did or even more, but you knew as well as I did that he wasn't going to make it. He had asked you to run because whoever did this to our pack was pretty much still around. Would you have loved to die?" She spoke softly.
"Yes. Yes, I would have. What's the point of staying alive? I have no one." I screamed at her.
We heard loud music, and Hera took us in the direction of the music. She hadn't shifted completely, so our clothing was still intact, but not without scratches and tears courtesy of branches and shrubs getting caught in the thin fabric.
We arrived at a crowded pack; it looked like they were having a celebration, and the people present were very intoxicated and having a good time. I felt tears sting my eyes. They had something good to celebrate, whereas I was mourning the loss of so many people in my life.
Hera pushed my consciousness to the surface, stepping into the corners of my consciousness. I stared around, the emptiness and broken feeling inside me craving a drink. It was very important that I had one. Just one bottle to wash down my sorrow because, as it stood, every breath I took was painful. Living was painful. I craved death. I wanted to join them. Why did I have to be the only one left alive?
"What are you doing? You should be trying to-" Hera began,
"I need a drink!" I cut her off, turning my feet in the direction where the scent of alcohol came strongest.
I found a minibar set up and walked towards it. I found a vacant seat and sat myself down. I took in the large display of alcohol and the young bartender. His eyes scanned me, and I offered him a weak smile—if you'd call that a smile at all.
"Give me the strongest sh*t you have." I rasped.
I turned and found a young man sitting besides me. He looked miserable with his head hung low and his eyes staring hard at the glass cups lined up in front of him. One by one, he downed each one without stopping until the glasses stood empty.
I chuckled. His aim was probably to drown his sorrows, just like I had in mind. My drink was served, and with a deep exhale, I took up the glass and downed it in one gulp.
"Another one."
My drink got served, and I gulped it down, hissing as the hot liquid burned my throat. I went into a coughing fit but nevertheless ordered another one.
"Did you get rejected? You look like you're trying to drown your pain." A husky voice said that, which sent shivers down my spine in a good way.
I turned to him, already feeling the effects of the alcohol.
"Did you?" I questioned back, not feeling the mood to talk.
He chuckled darkly before kissing his tongue and sluggishly picking up his refilled glass and gulping it. He sniffled before turning to me, and my goodness, he had the prettiest set of steel-gray eyes that emitted darkness. My vision was blurry, but I could see that at least.
"Do I look rejectable, hm?" His voice was hypnotic.
I hiccuped, looking away to face my refilled glass. I took it in my hands, staring at it gently before gulping it down. I blamed the alcohol for finding him attractive.
"Maybe, maybe not."
"What are you doing?" Hera asked.
"Grieving. Now leave me alone." I snapped at her.
I felt eyes on me and instinctively turned. Music was blasted through blaring speakers. A minute of silence passed as we stared into each other's eyes, with nothing but loud music playing in the background. There was something about him.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" I asked him.
He tipped his head back, closing his eyes for a second, before turning to face me. His face was chiseled, with thin pale pink lips sitting on it, a pointed nose, and long, thick black lashes. He was very handsome. His hair sat in a low, messy bun, tendrils framing his face. A black silk shirt that had the first few buttons opened to reveal a chain that dangled a wolf pendant. My eyes lazily dipped to see black pants. He screamed power.
The short sleeves clung to his bulging biceps. His long, slender fingers wrapped around the glass had me gulping. A black ring with an engraved symbol was worn on his index finger. I felt heat travel through my body.
I was too numb with pain to actually function properly; mix that with alcohol, and we have a recipe for bad decisions. An example of one was finding this mysterious stranger, who wore a dark and dangerous aura, handsome. He drew me like a magnet does iron.
"Care to take this somewhere else?" Everything about his words and voice is suggestive.
"Hello, aren't you going to stop me from making a bad decision?" I called out to Hera, and after a minute of waiting and no reply, I turned to him.
"Sure, I can work with that."
His eyes gifted me a side glance with tilted lips. He looked incredibly sexy, and his chuckle was an unspoken promise of an unholy night.
