"I'm going to report back to the royal chambers," Draken said, his voice firm and resolute. "I'll tell them I haven't been able to find you yet. But next time, Alex, next time I come back, it won't be to talk. It won't be to give you a chance to leave. Next time, I'll be coming for you, and for her." Alex's eyes flashed with fear, but Draken just kept going. "I tried to protect you, Alex. I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt. But you've made it clear where your loyalties lie. You've chosen a human over our kind, over our pack, over me. And I won't stand for it." Draken's voice cracked with emotion, but he pushed on. "I have to protect myself, Alex. I have to protect our way of life. And if that means killing you and your human mate, then so be it. I'll do what I have to do." Alex took a step back, his eyes wide with horror. "Draken, please-" But Draken just turned and walked away, leaving Alex and his human mate to their fate. He knew what he had to do, and he was determi
