Instantly, I heard whimpering noises. If I had guessed correctly, Cindy was probably crying her heart out by now.
"Mr. Harold hasn't made a move yet. Ms. Lane, you're being too impatient." John expressed his displeasure.
"That's enough," Bruce's reprimanding voice cut in.
"She was just trying to help. If she hadn't informed Ms. Fisher, I wouldn't even know that one simple action could land her in the hospital," Bruce said.
The phrase "trying to help" pricked at me. While we both meant well, it reminded Bruce that I might have ulterior motives and that Cindy genuinely cared. Quite a contrast.
"Mr. Harold, maybe what Nan—Ms. Fisher said isn't entirely wrong. Perhaps we could consider her suggestion. What do you think?" John asked cautiously.
"I think you should start looking for another job," Bruce replied mercilessly. "I'm not even sure whose side you're on, Roeval's or Hansen's."
That accusation was quite heavy. Even hearing it made me feel guilty.
