Jonathan sputtered, "You… you…" For a solid ten seconds, he just stammered without saying anything coherent.
My eyes brimmed with tears, and I snapped, "You don't want me to come home, do you? Just say it!"
That shut him up entirely. He stared at me, completely at a loss for words, his frustration practically radiating off him as if he couldn't contain it any longer. He started raking his hands through his hair like a madman.
