Chapter 1

"What is this place?" Shirley Weiss woke up and found herself in an unfamiliar room. Her head felt heavy, and she was very uncomfortable. She wanted to get out of bed and leave at once. Her wedding with Samuel Moore would take place tomorrow. Her wish was finally about to come true after six years of anticipation, and she could not let anything go wrong. Outside, Samuel leaned against the wall and lit a cigarette. He looked expressionlessly at the man in front of him. "Go in. Make sure no one dies." The man checked with him once more. "Mr. Moore, are you sure you want to do this?" The woman inside that room was the top socialite in Elderstone, and she was also Samuel's fiancée. They were getting married the next day! "Go in. Don't make me say it a third time," Samuel said impassively. His voice, which was usually warm and pleasant to listen to, now sounded jarring and tinged with ice. Soon, there was a scream from inside the room. "Who are you? Don't come over here! What do you want? Let me go…. Someone save me…" Samuel stood outside and listened to Shirley's desperate cries for help. He stood there coldly, unmoved. All he could think of was another woman, covered in injuries. Shirley could not blame him. She was not innocent. Samuel did not believe that Shirley did not know what Owen Weiss had done. A few hours ago, Samuel had received a report. "Samuel, the culprit who imprisoned Soph has been found." "Who was it?" Samuel's tall figure cast a long shadow as he stood over the bed, looking at the woman who was sleeping soundly in it. The woman was pale and very thin. She was covered in bruises and scratches, and it was immediately obvious what had happened to her. Billy White said through clenched teeth, "Owen." Owen was the father of Shirley. "Alright." Samuel's voice was as warm as always, but there was an aggressive edge to it. "You're Soph's older brother. What do you want to do?" "Abduct Shirley. Whatever Owen did to Soph, I'm going to do it ten times over to his daughter." Samuel did not answer for a long time, and Billy asked angrily, "What's the matter? You can't bear the thought of it? I guess you and Shirley are getting married tomorrow, so of course you won't be able to bear it. It's just a pity that Soph had to suffer so much for you." "There won't be a wedding tomorrow," Samuel said coolly. "I'll give you and Soph a satisfactory resolution." From the day that Owen had imprisoned Sophia White, everything that Samuel owed the Weisses would no longer mean anything. Owen should never have crossed that line. Inside the room, Shirley struggled desperately, but she was getting weaker and weaker. Her clothes had all been torn off. She screamed desperately, "Help me! Samuel, help me!" Tears trickled out of the corners of her eyes and dampened her hair. Why was this happening? She was going to marry Samuel tomorrow. She had to marry him as a whole version of herself. Why was this happening? When Samuel heard her screaming his name, he began smoking even more furiously. After tonight, Shirley would be completely ruined. He couldn't help thinking of that day six years ago when a young woman who looked like a princess had walked over to him confidently and pointed at him. She had said, "I choose him to be my fiancé." Samuel was the oldest grandson of the Moore family, and he was very intelligent. Everyone knew that Samuel had lost a leg in a car accident, but Shirley had been firm in her choice. Samuel, who had been abandoned by his own family, had finally had a chance to change his fortune. Samuel stubbed out his cigarette, took out his phone, and made a call. "Stop it and come out!" That would be his payment to Shirley for the debt he owed her from six years ago. Billy rounded the corner and looked at him in disappointment. "You couldn't bear to do it in the end. Is this fair to Soph?" Samuel said blandly, "Soph is such a kind person that she definitely wouldn't want us to do this. I'll give you and Soph a resolution regarding the wedding tomorrow." … At dawn, Shirley woke up from a nightmare, screaming, "Samuel, save me!" Her hair was soaked with tears. She immediately looked down at her clothes and saw that they were back in place. There were no injuries on her wrists or her chest, and she was in her own bedroom. Had it only been a dream? Why had it been so vivid? It was so real that her heart felt as if it had been cut open with a knife. However, if it wasn't a dream, why was she wearing her clothes again? They had been torn off, but they were now as good as new. Why weren't there any injuries on her body? If it hadn't been a dream, how could she have seen that Samuel had been standing right outside the door while she was being ravaged inside? She hadn't heard the name Sophia for many years. Today was the day of her wedding to Samuel. Was that why the fear hidden deep inside her heart had been magnified many times over? "Shirley, get up now! Today is the most important day for you and Samuel. Don't laze around in bed." Shirley heard the sound of her mother's voice coming through the door. She gradually relaxed from her stiff stance. It had really only been a nightmare. … Two hours later, Shirley sat in front of the mirror, looking blissful in her wedding dress. Her mother, Rachel Simmons, was brushing her hair meticulously. In the mirror, Shirley looked enchantingly beautiful. Shirley was known as one of the most beautiful women in Elderstone. She was five feet five inches tall, with a slender frame and perfect curves. She had elegant, charming features and was known as the top socialite in Elderstone. What she was most famous for was her skin, which was flawless and seemed to glow like ivory. Everyone who saw her couldn't help but sigh in amazement at her natural beauty. "Look at how beautiful my daughter is!" Rachel couldn't help shedding tears when she saw Shirley in her wedding dress. "My precious daughter is finally getting married. You and Samuel must live a good life together. You'll take care of the home while he works, and you should have many children. You must have a beautiful family that everyone will admire." Shirley's lips curled into a smile, and she held Rachel's hand tightly. "Mom, I'm going to be very happy. I'm sure that Samuel will be a good husband." Rachel put her arm around Shirley, looking a little sorrowful. She said in a choked voice, "If he ever dares to mistreat you, your father and I will never let him get away with it." Beside them, Owen said in a hoarse voice, "Alright, now. Don't say such negative things on our daughter's day of joy." Shirley rubbed Rachel's pregnant belly, which was almost ready to pop. There was a blissful look of happiness on her beautiful face. "Dad, Mom, don't worry. Samuel told me he would treat me well for the rest of my life. I'm sure he won't let me down." 22-year-old Shirley had never doubted Samuel. Samuel was a very talented man, and he was also a gentle and considerate boyfriend. No one could say anything bad about him, and she was sure he would also be a good husband and father. As for the dream that had made her so uneasy, it would never happen. She had been by Samuel's side for six years, and they had been through a lot in that time. No one could separate them. However, Shirley did not see the look of worry in Owen's eyes when he saw how happy she looked. … Meanwhile, back in the Moore Residence, there was a beautiful woman lying in Samuel's room. She was frail, and her fair skin was covered with scratches. One side of her face was terribly red and swollen. It was Sophia, the woman in Shirley's dream.
