CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE – THE ILLNESS GETS WORSE
Logan approached the bed slowly, as if afraid his presence might somehow disturb his father's fragile state. He reached out, gently taking Nolan's hand in his own.
"Dad," he began, his voice choked with emotion. "I'm here. I... I need you to fight, okay? There's so much I still need to tell you, so much we need to do together."
Deonna stood back, giving Logan space but offering her silent support. As she watched him pour out his heart to his unconscious father, she saw a side of Logan she'd never seen before – vulnerable, loving, and deeply human.
After a few minutes, a nurse gently informed them they needed to leave. As they exited the ICU, Logan turned to Deonna, his eyes brimming with unshed tears.
"Thank you," he said simply. "For being here. For... everything."
Deonna nodded, fighting back her own tears. "That's what family does, Logan. We're here for each other, no matter what."
