CHAPTER 55: CONDEMNING AMANDLA
The sun had just begun to rise. Shirley stood by the window, her fingers tracing the rose flowers the dragon had sent someone to bring for her the day before; she didn't know he could be this romantic as she stood there reminiscing on the night before.
She watched the town below Drakon’s room, longing to walk freely among the people she now protected, but she was confined to the palace, treated like a deity.
"Shirley," Drakon's deep voice broke her thoughts. He stepped into the room. "How are you feeling today?"
Shirley turned to face him; her brown eyes looked up at his chiseled jaw and traced his mouth with her hands. "It still feels strange," she admitted. "Everyone calling me a god... it feels wrong. I'm just Shirley. And I'm glad you're here to protect me."
Drakon approached her, his hand resting gently on her shoulder. "You are special, Shirley. With powers or not."
