CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY EIGHT – WHAT’S ALL THE RUCKUS?
She made her way to her apartment, relieved to find it mostly dry. But the hallway was another story. Water dripped steadily from a large, dark stain on the ceiling.
Nia's frustration boiled over. She stomped down to Frank's apartment, leaving wet footprints in her wake. She pounded on his door.
"Frank! Frank, are you in there? We've got a major problem up here!"
Silence.
Nia knocked again, harder this time. "Frank! The roof is leaking. The whole hallway is flooded!"
Still no response. Nia let out a string of curses that would have made her mother blush. Of course Frank was nowhere to be found. Why would today be any different?
She trudged back upstairs, the water now soaking through her shoes. A few of her neighbors had emerged, staring at the mess in dismay.
"Has anyone called a plumber?" Mrs. Ramirez asked, clutching her bathrobe tightly around her.
Nia shook her head. "I can't find Frank. I guess I'll have to do it myself."
