Betty's eyes lit up, clearly relishing the chance to dish some dirt. "Well, where do I start? The pipes are always bursting—Mrs. Goldstein in 2A had her entire living room flooded last month. The elevators break down at least once a week—thank goodness we're only on the third floor. And don't even get me started on the roach problem."
"Roaches?" Nia felt her stomach turn.
"Oh yes, but don't worry too much. They mostly stick to the first floor. Probably." Betty waved a hand dismissively. "And then there's Frank, our super. Useless as a screen door on a submarine, that one. Half the time you can't even find him when there's an emergency."
Nia's head was spinning. She'd known the place wasn't exactly luxury living, but this was worse than she'd imagined. "I... I had no idea."
