Chapter 111: They Must Be Separated
Owen lay on the bed, his eyes closed, not wanting to see the mess he had made in the room. His phone rang, and he reached for it. It was the third time it had rung in succession.
"Hello," he muttered grumpily.
"Hey, playboy!" came the voice from the other end.
"Sounds familiar," Owen thought. "Evelyn?"
"Yeah," Evelyn chuckled. "The one and only. You sound like you're in the bathroom or something."
"Ah, still the same old Evelyn," Owen muttered.
"How are you doing? It's been a long time," Evelyn asked. Loud music was playing in the background, interfering with their conversation.
"Well, not long enough," Owen shrugged, playing with his bedspread. "I'm okay, and you?"
"I'm okay, talking to you," Evelyn laughed lightly. "Although you sound like you want to cut the call on me right now."
