Jones parked in the parking garage at my sister’s office and got out. My nerves were scattered all over the place. I couldn’t believe I’d gathered the courage to go see Charlotte. It wasn’t a smart decision but one that needed to be handled. Suddenly, I regretted taking Jamie's advice.
Jones opened the door for me and I stepped out of the town car. “I’ll be right back—”
Jones frowned as he shut the door. “Actually, Fletcher requested that I come with you to see your sister.”
I cringed. “I don’t think that’s a good idea, Jones. My sister isn’t going to be happy to see me. You don't want to hear anything we have to say to one another right now."
He folded his arms over his chest in a way that said he wasn't budging.
I blinked at him for several seconds. “Didn’t you say I was your boss earlier? What happened to that?"
The corner of his mouth tugged into a smile. “You are my boss but Fletcher pays me. I'd be fired quicker than you can blink if I didn't do what he said."
