Chapter 11
Easton tucked the blanket around Keke, who was lying in the hospital bed, before finally letting out a sigh of relief and sinking into the chair beside her.
It was 3:00 am.
He unlocked his phone, only to see that his screen was still displaying the chat with Sloane.
The message he had sent two hours ago remained unanswered.
Easton sighed. Sloane must have gone to bed. He would try calling her in the morning.
As he scrolled through his phone absentmindedly, a local news alert popped up at the top of the screen.
"As fire has broken out at a privately owned greenhouse in the city, destroying numerous rare floral collections. Estimated loss exceeds tens of millions..."
A strange sense of familiarity made Easton uneasy. He pinched the bridge of his nose in exhaustion, but he brushed off the news and swiped past it.
Keke, who was restless in her sleep the rest of the night, tossed and turned while kicking off the blanket repeatedly.
Easton had to stay by her side the whole time.
