The door creaked open, and I stepped into a spacious room filled with warm light from a large hearth.
Baron stood by the window, his broad back to me, his silhouette framed by the morning light. He turned as I entered, his piercing eyes locking onto mine.
“Talia,” he said, his voice deep and steady. “We need to talk.”
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. “I want to leave,” I said firmly, trying to mask the tremor in my voice. “I don’t belong here.”
Baron’s expression softened slightly, though his eyes remained intense. “It’s not that simple,” he replied.
“My wolf... he’s attached to you. More than I’ve ever seen. It’s like you’ve become a part of him, and he’s not willing to let you go.”
I frowned, confusion mingling with my frustration. “Why does that matter? I don’t want to stay here against my will.”
