Baron turned away, his fists still clenched, fighting to regain control of the fury simmering just below the surface. He didn’t want to listen. Darius’s apologies meant nothing to him. In fact, they were worth less than the dirt under his feet. That’s how little he regarded Darius. The only reason Darius still breathed was probably because of whatever lingering attachment Talia might still have for him. That was the only reason Baron had kept him alive.
But then Darius spoke again, and this time, his words cut through the haze of anger like a knife.
“Talia... she was kept in the North, in the icy prisons of the North. She was there for a while.”
Baron interrupted, stepping closer with each word. “What did you do to her? How do you know where she was kept? Why do you know these things?” His voice grew darker, his tone more menacing with each question, until he was mere inches from Darius’s face.
